If you’ve ever wondered how celebrities maintain their fitness, you’re not alone. For a movie star or singer, looking fit is part of the job description! Here, we’ll look into some of the workout routines celebs rely on to keep themselves in tip-top shape.
Dance: Stars like Pink, Eva Longoria and Jennifer Lopez swear by dancing as a way to keep fit. Dance moves strengthen your body, build lean muscle and endurance, and best of all- it requires no equipment. Dance workouts can be done in the comfort and privacy of your own home, and they are a great way to relieve stress. Just like us, celebrities get tired of doing the same workout all the time, and dancing is a great way to shake it up- in more ways than one. Try a dance workout, and you can burn anywhere from 300-600 calories per hour.
CrossFit: Jessica Biel, Madonna and many other celebs are big CrossFit fans. The workout may seem new, but it’s actually been around for about twenty years. Cross it has been rising in popularity, as an alternative to the same old gym workout. The program is great because it saves time (you focus on the intensity of your workout, instead of the duration). CrossFit workouts combine plyometrics, cardio, and strength training into short bursts of very high-intensity activity.
FitOrbit: Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton is a big fan of this personal training service that hooks clients up with personal trainers, who go on to craft a custom exercise and nutritional program. Along with that, FitOrbit includes a food journal, workout finder, and progress tracker. FitOrbit isn’t for those looking for a quick fix, but it’s a lifestyle change. It can be done anywhere at any time, but you do need Internet access.
P90X: You may think that every celebrity hires a personal trainer, but there are some that rely on home DVD workout programs- just like you and I! There are actually quite a few stars that are devoted to P90X, which is a set of extremely hard workouts designed by Beach Body trainer Tony Horton. P90X is great because it provides results for the entire body, and has activities ranging from yoga to plyo work. It works on the basis of muscle confusion, where you change your workout so often that your body never gets the chance to hit a plateau.
Yoga: It’s a way to stretch for a more fit body, and it has numerous benefits. A regular yoga practice helps to retain muscle flexibility, and it also relaxes the mind. If you’re busy with work and life, yoga can help you tune out all the day to day chaos. Jennifer Aniston has had great success with yoga (just look at her, and you can see the results!)
You don’t have to be a celebrity to get a red carpet-worthy body. Just try one or more of the workouts listed here, and you’ll be on your way to building the lean muscle you want in no time at all.
